After leaving Apple in 1895, Steve Jobs founded a company called NeXT. NeXT unveiled its first product, the NeXT computer, in 1988. The NeXT computer was built to rival the Apple Macintosh. The NeXT computer was small and sleek being only 1 foot by 1 foot. After the short success of NeXT, in 1996, Apple bought NeXT after their efforts to upgrade the Apple Macintosh failed. The NeXt computer ran off the operating system NeXTSTEP. NeXT invented the NeXT computer and the NeXTstation. After the sale of NeXT, Steve Jobs worked as an advisor for Apple until he was then promoted to CEO of the company.
