William Bill
Gates was born on October 28, 1955, and he is a software developer, entrepreneur, and investor. Since a young age, Gates enjoyed computer programming, even writing his first software program at the age of 13. During his Harvard years, he and Paul Allen develop software for the first microcomputer, adapting BASIC for use on microcomputers like the Altair. After that success, Gates left Harvard and joined Allen to create Microsoft where they would encourage the world to invent in computers in the 1990s with their PCs, Windows. While Microsoft was first forming they licensed that operating system (MS-DOS) to IBM, International Business Machines Corporation, to use on its first microcomputer, the IBM PC. Later, IBM became reliant on Microsoft’s software and Gates amassed a huge fortune. Now, Microsoft is the world’s largest personal-computer software company, selling tens of millions of copies of Windows. Bill Gates stepped down from the CEO position at Microsoft since 2008 to focus on his foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
