Altair Computer

The Altair computer was a microcomputer built in 1974, based on the intel 8080 CPU. It was developed by Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS). MITS had previously released kits for model rockets and calculators, which then sparked their idea for the Altair Computer. This was a personal kit that could be individually assembled and used as a computer. It was the first personal computer to become successful, which started a microcomputer revolution. Thousands of Altairs were sold and were distributed through mail order from magazines. The Altair was used throughout many households during this time.
