Blaise Pascal was born on June 19, 1523 in Clermont-Ferrand France and was a French mathematician, physicist, and a religious philosopher. Pascal is best known for his invention, the Pascaline, a numerical wheel calculator with movable dials that is also known as Pascal''s Calculator or the Arithmetic Machine. Pasal invented the Pascaline so that his father could calculate his taxes easier. Though it could only do addition and subtraction, it was a revolutionary device that could do calculations in faster time and he invented the one thing that almost every computer has, a mechanical calculator (or the Arithmetic Machine). Blaise Pascal died August 19, 1662 in Paris, France.
