The Transistor

The Transistor

In 1947, WIlliam Shockley, John Bardeen, and Walter Brattain invented the transistor and showcased it on December 23, 1947 at Bell Laboratories. Transistors were electronic hardware that was used in computers and had 3 terminals. There were two main types of transistors: bipolar and field-effect. The transistor computers were able to perform the same as the other computers of that time, but replaced the vacuum tubes with transistors.
